Langenhagen, October 2007
"The Power of Change" is the slogan of the second Konica Minolta European Leadership Conference, which is being held in Hamburg on Friday 19 October. The event emphasises the importance of direct contact and regular discussions between Konica Minolta and its European dealers and sales partners. Core themes of this year's conference, held by the European market leader for full colour multifunctional machines, are the market’s development towards document management and workflow as well as the creation of efficient print infrastructures. The company is expecting more than 1,350 international visitors to the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), many of whom will be analysts and journalists.
Konica Minolta considers regular dialogue and close contact with its dealers in Europe to be essential. This event, held in the year between the IPEX and Drupa trade fairs, draws on the success of the first European Leadership Conference held in Berlin two years ago. One of the main themes on this year's agenda for Konica Minolta, the European market leader in the area of full colour multifunctional devices, is the constantly changing market for printers and multifunctional devices and the resulting challenges for manufacturers and dealers. The replacement of monochrome machines with high-quality, fast colour machines has been one of the top priorities over the past two years. Now the focus is on proving Konica Minolta’s competence as a solution provider. With OpenAPI, a software interface developed by the company, Konica Minolta has taken a major step towards this goal.
The ever-increasing volume of data that needs to be processed quickly and reliably in networks underlines the necessity of further developments in the areas of document management and document workflow. In collaboration with Microsoft, Konica Minolta is breaking new ground: The manufacturer's current machines support Microsoft Vista. Konica Minolta is the first company in the industry that is able to implement the entire functionality of the XPS file format. The fact that DPWS protocols are supported also facilitates the connection between Konica Minolta’s bizhubs and Microsoft Vista.
An important change has also been made recently within the company with the consolidation of the Business Solutions and Printing Solutions divisions under the umbrella of Konica Minolta Business Solutions. Users now get the complete spread of integrated solutions, from the multifunctional machine to the laser printer to the Allin- Ones from within one organization. This is another way in which Konica Minolta is increasingly meeting customer demands for integrated solutions.
“‘The power of change’ is much more than just the slogan of our second European Leadership Conference. It points the way forward for the whole of Konica Minolta”, says Hideki Okamura, President of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “Change makes us stronger; it is and will remain our route to success and to achieving our objective of market leadership in other areas.” The event starts on Friday 19 October at 10am in the Congress Center in Hamburg (CCH) with a presentation by Atsushi Kodama, Executive Director of Sales & Marketing, Headquarters Konica Minolta Business Technologies, Inc. Other speakers will include Hideki Okamura, the President of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH and Christian Mehrtens, Director Information Worker Business of Microsoft Deutschland GmbH.
Two special exhibitions about the new features and integrated solutions from the Office and Production Printing divisions will be open for viewing in the afternoon and seminars and short sessions on topics related to these two divisions will be held at the same time. The press event for journalists will start at 12 noon with a press lunch in the Hotel Radisson SAS, rounded off with a press conference and question-andanswer session.
