Konica Minolta shows its drive for innovation with the launch of its screen-enhancing active digital processing technology (S.E.A.D.).  This proprietary technology improves image quality, colour consistency and sharpness of text and has been specifically developed by Konica Minolta for its bizhub PRO C6500 and bizhub PRO C6500e/eP.

S.E.A.D. consists of three technologies that, when combined, ensure a high level of accuracy, stability and consistency for every print job.  The first is Image Tag bit (IT bit) technology which offers micron-level image control and the ideal processing for each job type, resulting in high-precision output.

The second of the three core technologies is HI-PER application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC).  The ASIC layout streamlines the imaging process from the optical system to the writing system. Each imaging step is digitally controlled to enable 600dpi by 8bit colour output at 65 pages per minute (ppm) in high image quality. It maximizes accuracy and efficiency for the customer through digital image control.

Finally, the device includes colour retention and stability technology (CRS), an exclusive feature that continuously monitors the status of the main body of the digital press.  It receives feedback about changes in the print environment and the engine and then makes necessary adjustments to maintain high print quality.

S.E.A.D. processing technology boasts a number of key benefits to the user including: a laser exposure control to ensure accuracy for the writing position of each colour; high quality image reproduction thanks to dot position control which divides single dots into even further detail; and multi-bit screening which creates fine gradations on the page.
